MD COMBAT Custom Wrestling Singlets are manufactured for the specific technical and regulatory requirements of the world’s oldest combat sport. Wrestling is contested at Olympic level, at school and university level across the United States, at international federation level under FILA and United World Wrestling rules, and at grassroots club level across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Each level has specific requirements for the singlet — in construction, cut, colour coding, and in some cases material specification — and we manufacture across all of them.

The wrestling singlet is a garment where function is absolute. It must be form-fitting enough to give an opponent no fabric to grab during a match, flexible enough to allow every wrestling position and movement without restriction, durable enough to survive the physical demands of match-level wrestling including being pulled, grabbed, and driven into the mat, and comfortable enough to be worn through a full day of competition or training. Our singlets are constructed in high-stretch technical fabrics that meet all four requirements simultaneously.

Primary fabric for wrestling singlets is nylon-spandex at 80/20 — the highest stretch recovery construction in our technical fabric range. This fabric provides the compressive, body-hugging fit that regulation wrestling demands, returns to shape after every stretch and pull, and presents a smooth surface that minimises opponent grip points. Polyester-spandex at 88/12 is specified when sublimation printing is the priority — this construction achieves outstanding colour reproduction across the full singlet body while maintaining adequate stretch and recovery for training and competition use. All constructions are 4-way stretch throughout with moisture-wicking treatment as standard.

Competition singlet construction follows the standard cut recognised by wrestling federations worldwide: high neck with close-fitting collar that cannot be grabbed, deep armhole allowing full shoulder and arm rotation, a body that fits closely through the torso and hip without excess fabric, and a leg opening at upper thigh that allows complete freedom for all wrestling positions including leg lace, single leg, double leg, and sprawl defence. Freestyle and Greco-Roman singlets follow identical cut standards. Folkstyle singlets for the United States collegiate and high school market have minor cut variations at the leg opening and torso length, which we accommodate in our pattern library.

Sublimation printing is the correct decoration method for wrestling singlets and the one that the competitive wrestling market demands. The close-fitting, all-stretch construction of the singlet means that any print must stretch with the fabric without cracking or distorting — only dye-sublimation, which bonds colour molecules into the fabric structure, achieves this. Full-panel sublimation across the entire singlet allows team colours, federation crests, national flags, sponsor logos, and athlete names to be incorporated into a single cohesive design with no compromise in fabric performance.

FILA and United World Wrestling colour regulations for competition singlets — which require specific colours for red and blue corner differentiation — are accommodated within our production programme. We produce singlets in matching sets where one colour scheme is the primary club or team design and the secondary version reverses the key colour elements to provide the required corner differentiation.
